Head of Performance Marketing (m/f/divers)

We have an immediate vacancy for a Head of Performance Marketing. This position directly reports to the Director Marketing. It requires strong skills in leadership as well as managing and controlling all performance-based marketing channels (e.g. Paid Search, Display, Paid Social, Retargeting, Affiliate) plus Campaign. The role is particularly appealing for an organized and motivated individual with extensive skills and broad experience in e-commerce. It will include ownership and responsibility over the performance marketing team with a sizeable monthly budget to drive Rakuten Germany’s performance marketing to the next level.


  • Shape and evolve the marketing strategy in close cooperation with senior management
  • Boost customer acquisition, lifetime value and future growth through the optimization and expansion of performance marketing channels and initiatives
  • Define, set, measure and deliver KPIs, department goals, performance standards and processes
  • Control budgets and ensure the maximization of channel performance and efficiency
  • Act both as mentor and operator to support, inspire and grow the team
  • Proactively coordinate, prioritize and communicate deliverables, timelines and issues within the entire marketing team as well as towards stakeholders across the business
  • Build attribution and prediction models to identify opportunities to further automate and enhance existing workflows
  • Lead efforts in the application of data driven methods to further scale and improve marketing activities


  • Master’s Degree with business or technical background and an exceptional understanding of e-commerce and marketing technologies
  • Over 6 years of experience in driving consumer acquisition across marketing channels such as Paid Search, Display, Paid Social, Retargeting and Affiliate
  • Advanced understanding of marketing strategy and proven history in driving growth using innovative ideas
  • Wide experience in managing a cross-functional team as both a player and a leader
  • Highly analytical and data driven with the ability to track and report on key metrics
  • Extremely well structured with proficient know how in managing complex processes and communication on expert level
  • Fluent English, business proficiency in German is a plus
